The Passion for Publishing services comprise project editing, online editing, structural editing, copy editing and proofreading.

The project editing service combines project management expertise with editorial and proofreading skills (any one or more of the services listed below).
For example, Passion for Publishing has worked with Letts and Lonsdale and a number of practising teachers to launch Essentials Online, an online, interactive revision product for GCSE students.

The online editing service uses an online tool (such as XMLSpy) to make edited or unedited print-based materials appropriate for an online audience.
For example, Passion for Publishing has worked with the Open University’s OpenLearn team to transform print-based Open University learning materials into online educational resources.

The structural editing service unpicks raw text, questions it, and then rebuilds it into editorial content which is fit for purpose for its required audience.
For example, Passion for Publishing has transformed a number of guides in the International Trade section of a well-known business website for Sweet & Maxwell. The brief was to use plain, clear and straightforward English, specifically for an online audience, and there were strict word limits.

The copy editing service ensures accuracy and consistency in punctuation, spelling and grammar, according to your preferred house style. The flow and general meaning of the text is also checked. (This service may include a light language check for authors who are not writing in their first language.)

The proofreading service corrects typographical, grammatical and punctuation errors.

Generally speaking copy is supplied via email in Word, although editing and proofreading on hard copy is also undertaken. Passion for Publishing has a working knowledge of QuarkXpress 5.0 and is comfortable working with PDFs.

A queries list is always submitted with the edited text to flag up anything that is unclear.
